The Mayo Fire Service are currently fighting a gorse fire at a bog in Achill.
It is understood that the fire started along the R319 in Polranny, and was reported shortly after 9:00am this morning, having quickly spread across the bog.
Crew members from the Mayo Fire Service’s station in Achill are bringing the fire under control at this moment.
This comes as higher temperatures are expected in the west over the coming days.
Earlier this month, a large number of fires took place across the county, with the most devastating of those causing structural damage to the Wild Nephin National Park in Ballycroy, where the Claggan Mountain Coastal Trail was destroyed.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service suspected that those fires were started deliberately.
Hundreds of acres of land were destroyed during the fires in recent weeks, which also resulted in wildlife deaths.
