A number of events take place across the county today to mark Mayo Day.
Mayo Day is a celebration of ‘Mayo-ness’ worldwide and has grown over the last 10 years.
The Big Day on the Mall takes place in Castlebar, where Music Generation Mayo will showcase around 150 young musicians from across the county. 12 different performances will be shown on the large stage, with Mayo Pink Ribbon Day and Mayo Mini Marathon also running their events in the county town this weekend.
The Big Day on the Mall runs from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.
Events will be held throughout the day and across the county at venues including the Ballina Arts Centre, the North Mayo Heritage Centre, Westport Town Hall, Ballinglen Arts Foundation Ballycastle, Mulranny Arts Centre, and Aras Inis Gluaire among others.
Today’s celebrations will be capped off by the Mayo Day 2025 Grand Finale Concert at the TF Royal Hotel & Theatre, Castlebar.
With headline acts like Garron Noone and Tommy Fleming, tonight will showcase the very best of Mayo in forms of music, dance, comedy and more.
Doors open at 7:00pm with the show running from 8:00pm to 10:45pm.
