Mayo County Council must face traffic concerns

Mayo county Council has been accused of “sticking two fingers” to residents due to Castlebar’s notorious traffic delays.

The comment was made by Independant Councillor Harry Barrett, at the Castlebar Municipal District’s monthly meeting.

Cllr. Barrett has said the town is operating off a 100 year-old plan, with a growing population that uses extra cars on the streets.

He has said the traffic specifically on the Rathbaun road must be addressed, with people also facing traffic jams coming from Lahardane, Ross and Turlough into the town, as they hit the junction with Linenhall.
