A man in his 50s has died following a collision near Ballyhaunis.
A single vehicle collision took place last night at approximately 10:10pm on the R323 Knock Road at Bracklaghboy.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the car.
The body has been removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place.
The road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Investigators, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 9:30pm to 10:30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
