The Road Safety Authority has been told by the Minister for Transport to come up with a plan to deal with the waiting times for driving tests.
Sean Canney has instructed the RSA to identify further measures that will bring the waiting lists for tests down to ten weeks.
A 2019 RSA annual report stated the average waiting time for a test was six weeks.
However, the current average waiting time for a driving test nationally is now 24.1 weeks, according to the RSA.
Minister Canney said the current wait time is unacceptable.
