Law to honour mother killed in Mayo goes to cabinet

Valerie’s Law will go before Cabinet for approval today.

The proposed legislation would remove automatic guardianship rights from a parent who kills the other parent of their child.

It’s named after Valerie French Kilroy, a mother of three who was killed by her husband in Mayo in 2019.

Her brother, David French, says the law would have changed a lot of things for them at the time…
