A Roscommon TD says that the lack of a 24/7 advanced paramedic in the county is the difference between life and death.
Deputy Claire Kerrane raised the issue with the Health Minister today in the Dail.
An advanced paramedic is trained to administer an additional 23 medications compared to a regular paramedic and, in her opinion, vital in the absence of a full time A and E department.
The 24/7 advanced paramedic position was introduced following the closure of the A and E department in Roscommon, and was in place until 2023 until the position was rostered for a regular paramedic.
