International Women’s Day to be celebrated in Castlebar

Le Cheile (Castlebar Family Resource Centre), Mayo County Library, and the Linenhall Arts Centre are inviting the community to join in a special celebration of International Women’s Day today (Saturday, March 8), from 1pm to 3pm.

The afternoon event will feature a variety of art taster sessions, a journaling workshop, storytelling, and more – all for free!

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day event is “Celebrating Those Who Have Inspired Us.”

Lorraine Cusack, Community Engagement Officer at Le Cheile CFRC, says they are thrilled to bring together the community to celebrate the incredible women who have inspired us through storytelling, art, music, and more. It’s a chance to share our stories, create together, and appreciate the amazing women in our lives.”

Fiona Dowling, a French-Irish storyteller and visual artist, will bring her unique tales to life.

Niamh Doyle, a Mindfulness Coach, will facilitate a journaling workshop designed to help reduce stress and anxiety.

Community artists Justyna Gruszczyk and Alekandra Schulte will lead fun and creative art taster sessions, where attendees can explore techniques like marbling and collaging.

Mayo County Library will showcase a carefully curated selection of books celebrating inspirational women from various walks of life.

This event is open to everyone, offering an afternoon of inspiration, creativity, and mindfulness in celebration of International Women’s Day.
