Housing Minister James Browne has been voted the worst performing Minister through the first 100 days of the Government, in a new poll.
The Insider Poll surveyed a sample of TDs, Senators and former Oireachtas members, political advisors and correspondents between April 21 and 28.
New Housing Minister James Browne was voted worst performing Minister by 57% of respondents, with the next nearest being Arts Minister Patrick O’Donovan at 10%.
Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan was voted best performing by 29%, followed by Health Minister Jennifer Carroll McNeill on 22%.
Insiders were also asked to name the TD most likely to be Taoiseach outside of Micheál Martin, Simon Harris and Mary Lou McDonald. 35% thought Minister Carroll McNeill could lead the country one day.
Locally, 7.5% think that Galway TD Albert Dolan is most likely to become a Minister in the future – putting him in third place in the ranking behind Barry Ward and James Geoghegan.
23% voted for Mairead McGuinness as most likely to be the next President, followed by Frances Black (10%) and Galway TD Catherine Connolly (8%).
18% of respondents said that they have no idea who would next hold the Áras.
In the vote for the best new TD, there were 19 Deputies voted on.
Labour’s Conor Sheehan came out on top on 10%, with the nearest local being Albert Dolan with 5%.
2.5% of the vote went to each of Westport TD Keira Keogh, Galway Deputy Louis O’Hara and Roscommon/ Galway TD Dr. Martin Daly.
