The Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association (INHFA) are calling for changes to the GAEC 2 regulations, warning that its rigid enforcement will have severe consequences for over 3,500 farmers along the western seaboard.
A protest was held in Dublin earlier this week, opposing the changes.
The GAEC focuses on protecting peatlands and wetlands, but the INHFA are critical of the restrictions it places on farmers operating in these areas.
They hope to hold another public meeting later this month.
