The Irish Farmers Association has rebuffed claims that their protests against Larry Murrin has turned into a “personalised campaign”.

The Chair of Bord Bia has been under pressure to resign from his position due to the fact that Dawn Farm Foods, the company of which he is CEO and a 10% owner, used a small amount of Brazilian beef in the manufacturing of its products.

Speaking to MidWest Radio and also in the European Parliament earlier this week, Fianna Fáil MEP for Midlands North-West Barry Cowen said that it is time for all parties to come to the negotiating table and that protests against Mr. Murrin have turned into a “personalised campaign”.

Meanwhile, IFA Connacht Regional Chair Brendan Golden says he is deeply disappointed with the remarks from MEP Cowen.

Mr. Golden says his phone has been on fire all day from farmers ringing him after the sentiments echoed by Barry Cowen on Morning Edition .

He has been giving more details to Midwest News.
