There’s a call for farmers to be trained to monitor the condition of electricity poles and report faults to the ESB.
It comes in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn, which saw more than 700 thousand people without power – many of those as a result of trees falling on power lines.
The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers’ Association is suggesting farmers could maintain hedges and vegetation around electricity poles, as well as monitoring their condition.
