Castlebar 9s is a nine-a-side Gaelic football festival and a festival of music and fun taking place in Castlebar over the Easter Bank Holiday, Saturday and Sunday.
Hosted by Castlebar Mitchels, it’s all action at An Sportlann.
32 teams, from all over Ireland, featuring men’s and ladies teams, will take part bringing over 600 players to Castlebar over the weekend.
On top of that, a family-friendly kids’ zone and then when the football finishes, the fun in the marquee kicks off from 3pm daily.
It will provide another huge economic boost to the county town with the festival last year generating over €70,000 to the local economy.
Kieran Lavelle is the Chairperson of Castlebar Mitchels and he has been giving more details to Midwest Radio’s Michael D. McAndrew about the festival.
