Mayo, Roscommon and Galway saw the highest number of missions by the air ambulance service last year.
The Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS), often referred to as the Air Ambulance responded to 652 critical incidents across the country in 2024.
According to the Irish Independent, the highest number of missions undertaken by the EAS were recorded in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon with the lowest in Dublin and Waterford.
In total 57 missions were carried out in both Galway and Mayo with 53 carried out in Roscommon.
Dublin and Waterford had the few missions with just four undertaken in each of the two counties last year.
The missions often involve severe trauma from falls, road traffic collisions, and other urgent medical emergencies.
The service provides rapid air transport for patients of all ages often to Dublin’s major trauma centres and specialist hospitals, including Beaumont, Tallaght and CHI Crumlin.
