Heavy rain for South and East today

Heavy rain will hit much of the east and southeast today, with the western region escaping the worse of the weather.

Dublin, Wexford, and Wicklow under a Status Orange rain warning until eight o’clock tomorrow morning.
13 counties in the region will remain under a Status Yellow warning until an hour later at nine.
Rain and flooding risks will continue through the day, and conditions could worsen as the system develops.
Meteorologist Liz Walsh from Met Éireann says there’s still a chance the situation could escalate.
Keith Leonard Director of Fire and Emergency Managemt at the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government says it’s difficult to know what areas of the South and East will be worst affected.
A Status Yellow wind warning is also in place for Dublin, Louth, Meath, Wexford, and Wicklow until 4 O’clock tomorrow morning, with strong northeasterly gusts making travel hazardous.
