The Government’s confirmed a controversial increase in personal injury awards will not go ahead.
There’s been widespread opposition to the proposal to raise awards in the courts by almost 17 per cent.
There had been warnings this increase would lead to a hike in insurance premiums.
Taoiseach Michael Martin has confirmed it’s not happening, but warned there may be consequences.
The inaugural meeting was held without the local media invited.
