The pace at which property prices are rising has increased.
CSO figures show they went up by almost 8 per cent in the year to May.
The cost of buying a home increased by 7 point 9 per cent in the 12 months to May.
That’s up from a rate of 7 point 6 per cent in the year to April.
Prices outside Dublin increased at a faster pace than the capital, going up by 8 point 7 per cent compared to 6 point 9 per cent.
In Dublin the highest house price growth was in Fingal at 9 point 3 per cent . The region outside Dublin that saw the largest growth in house prices was the border (Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, and Sligo) at 11 point 1 per cent.
At the other end of the scale house prices increased by 7 point 7 per cent in the South east , that’s Carlow Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford.
