Government not Revenue to blame for tax demands

Failure to increase the tax exemption limit for the payment of tax by government over a number of years, has led to thousands of pensioners now facing bills from Revenue regarding outstanding payments owed.

Castlebar councillor Michael Kilcoyne says it’s the government not revenue that is to blame for this upset to so many elderly people.

Revenue has written to over 62,000 pensioners it suspects have outstanding tax issues.

It relates to the year 2022 and those who have an occupational and a state pension.

Revenue has warned the pensioners of incorrect tax payments, according to today’s Irish Independent.
