81 per cent of Ireland’s beaches have an ‘excellent’ bathing water quality.
The latest report from the EPA shows 96 per cent of beaches across the country are of ‘sufficient’ quality to swim at. However 2 beaches – 1 in Donegal and the other in Dublin – have failed to meet the minimum water standard – down from 5 the year before. Dr Eimear Cotter from the EPA says heavy rainfall is still causing issues. |
