Good quality farmland in County Mayo is the second most expensive in Connacht and Ulster counties.

That’s according to the latest SCSI/ Teagasc Agricultural Land Market Review and Outlook Report for 2025.

The survey found that, in 2024, the average price of an acre of good quality land, on holdings under 50 acres, in Mayo was €10,600.

This has dropped from the €10,850 reported in 2023.

In comparison, land in Donegal is the most expensive at €13,280, while Galway and Monaghan are next in line on €10,500.

Lands in Sligo, Roscommon and Cavan are all in the €9-10,000 range, while Leitrim land is the cheapest on €7,625.

Also contained in the report is the price of poor quality land on holdings under 50 acres. The average price in this category for Mayo last year came in at €3,940 per acre. That is the cheapest in the region with Leitrim being the only place where it can be found cheaper.
