A Mayo woman has been awarded a Gold medal in Clinical Excellence.
Dr Kate McCarthy from Castlebar was awarded the inaugural University of Galway Dr Catherine Molloy Gold Medal in Clinical Excellence, recognising outstanding clinical skills and professional behaviours in delivering safe, skilled, and patient-centred care.
The medal honours the lasting contribution of the late Dr Catherine Molloy to medical education and the University and will be awarded annually to a graduating medical student.
It was presented by Dr Molloy’s husband, Mick Molloy at the University’s Summer Conferring ceremonies where Dr McCarthy was conferred with an Honours Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Obstetrics (MB, BCh, BAO) degree.
