Galway LCSP to say Yes to media

Excluding the media from meetings of the newly formed Mayo Local Community Security Partnership (LCSP) has proven controversial.

Mayo LCSP decided to ban media from all but one committee meeting annually.

Local Community Security Partnerships have been established countrywide following the ending of Joint Policing Committee Meetings, where media were invited to attend.

The new Chair of the Galway LCSP, Headford based Fine Gael councillor Andrew Reddington, says the Galway partnership will be glad to invite media to its gatherings, once the initial setting up of operations is completed. From the next meeting, he believes there will be agreement to invite the press to the county Galway gatherings.

Cllr Reddington spoke to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley. She put it to him that he says  Galway LCSP wants media at meetings to ensure the public are aware of what’s under discussion, but haven’t let them in as yet? …
