Galway driver caught on National Slow Down Day

125 drivers have already been caught speeding so far on this National Slow Down Day.

The 24 hour initiative by Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority began at midnight and continues until midnight tonight.

Among the vehicles detected travelling at above the speed limit this morning are one doing 144 km/h in a 100 zone in Newcastle, Co. Wicklow.

Another vehicle was caught doing 153 km/h in a 120 zone on the M7 in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, while another motorist was clocked at a speed of 141 km/h on the N67 in Co. Galway where the speed limit is 100 km/h.
