Further expansion of Hot School Meals Programme

Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary has today announced the expansion of the Hot School Meals Programme to a further 713 Primary Schools across the country.

The programme now serves 2,850 Primary Schools in Ireland, with over 475,000 pupils now eligible to receive Hot School Meals.

21 more schools in Mayo have been added to the scheme. You can view the full list at www.gov.ie/HotSchoolMeals2025

In addition to this, Minister Calleary has announced that a review will be carried out by an expert on the nutritional standards of the meals, and the removal of the optional food that is high in saturated fat, sugar and salt from the menu.
