Funeral of Donegal drowning victim takes place today

The funeral of a Roscommon woman who died following a drowning accident in Donegal last Friday will take place today,.

Máire Murray, formerly of Harold’s Cross, Dublin and Croghan Road, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Roscommon, died after getting into difficulty while swimming off the coast of Glencolmcille on Friday last.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident shortly after 7:00pm. Ms. Murray was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

She was aged in her 50s, and was understood to be a frequent visitor to the Glencolmcille area.

Ms. Murray will be sadly missed by her siblings Catherine, Tomás and Kevin, extended family and friends.

Her Funeral Service will be led today at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Harold’s Cross, Dublin at 12 noon, followed by cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium.
