Funeral arrangements have been announced for the late former Leitrim County Councillor Des Guckian, who passed away yesterday following an illness.
Mr. Guckian was re-elected to Leitrim County Council last year, and was forced to step back from his role earlier this year due to health reasons. The position was filled by his daughter, Irene Guckian-Rabbitte.
Having represented the Carrick on Shannon Municipal District for more than a decade as an independent councillor, Mr. Guckian also ran in the most recent General Election.
He will repose at St. Mary’s Church, Annaduff on Sunday from 3:30pm – 7:00pm, with the Funeral Mass taking place on Monday at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
