OPW Minister Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran will visit Crossmolina this Friday, as a sod turning ceremony will take place to mark the launch of the construction phase of the River Deel Flood Relief Scheme.
The event takes place adjacent to the newly established site offices, and gets underway at 11:30am.
The €13.5 million project got the go-ahead last September, and aims to help 116 properties in protecting them from further flood damage.
Most recently, Crossmolina was hit twice with devastating flooding late in 2015.
Local councillor Michael Loftus will be among those to welcome the OPW Minister, and says that it won’t be the first time that ‘Boxer’ Moran gave a helping hand to Crossmolina:
