A fire broke out on the on the Achill to Tonragee road yesterday evening.
The blaze was bordering the very dry commonage on the hill and close to homes.
As it appeared to ignite on the side of the road, it’s thought most likely, the source was a discarded cigarette.
The fire service was on the scene very quickly at 8 pm at night and brought the blaze under control.
There were no reports of injuries.
