97 children and 19 staff in Tuam Co. Galway, face an uncertain future after Happily Ever After creche was issued a closure notice over fire safety concerns.
The building’s landlord, Tuam Parish, says it cannot afford the €1.2 million needed for required upgrades and will not proceed with the fire-safety works.
The creche is due to close on October 31st according to the Irish Times, prompting protests and an online petition by angry parents scrambling to find alternative childcare.
Families say the decision will leave many in “an impossible position.”
