A Mayo councillor says dairy farmers will be left with no choice but to protest over milk prices.

That’s according to Westport based Independent Councillor John O’Malley where he criticised the move by multi-nationals to cut milk prices in-store to lure in shoppers.

Cuts of up to 10c on two litres of own-brand milk have been announced by a number of retailers.

Councillor O’Malley is furious over the decision which he says is another hit on farmers.

He says it’s only a matter of time before farmers protest outside the larger supermarkets.

Cllr. O’Malley has been giving more details to Midwest Radio’s Michael D. McAndrew.
