The Higher Education Minister has announced an expansion to the student grant schemes for the next academic year.
Minister James Lawless says the expansion will benefit a wide range of applicants and help support those who wish to progress to third level education.
Minister Marian Harkin says it was announced yesterday following a conference in Dublin, that was attended by students and employers who highlighted their concerns over the cost of attending third level education.
She says this is the third year of the conference, and that year on year, different measures have been adapted in response to concerns raised.
