ESG Leader Award for Ballina native

The Business & Finance ESG Awards, in partnership with Grant Thornton have announced that Ballina native, former President of Ireland and renowned climate justice advocate, Mary Robinson will be honoured with the prestigious ESG (Environmental, social, and governance)  Leader Award at this year’s ceremony.

The event will take place on 10th April at the Round Room of the Mansion House, Dublin.

Recognised globally for her unwavering commitment to human rights, gender equality, and climate action, Mrs Robinson has dedicated her career to advocating for a more sustainable and equitable world. As Ireland’s first female President and a former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, she has played a leading role in advancing environmental and social governance principles at both national and international levels. Through her work as Chair of The Elders and as a leading voice on climate justice, Mary continues to inspire businesses and governments alike to take meaningful action on sustainability.

Commenting on the honour, Mary Robinson says she is honoured to accept the ESG Leader Award at a time when there is significant push back on companies accepting the importance of incorporating Environmental, Social & Governance values to ensure their sustainability. She is encouraging Irish companies to show that both ESG and DEI (Diversity, Inclusion & Equity), are not only the right thing to do but also good for their bottom line.”

The Business & Finance ESG Awards celebrate the companies, leaders, and initiatives that are actively making a difference in sustainability and responsible business practices.
