€4.6 million has been allocated to 6 projects for the development of greenways and active travel projects in Mayo.
€800,000 has been allocated to the Clew Bay Greenway in Achill Sound and onto Bannacurry, €600,000 has been granted to the Great Western greenway at Newport while €250,000 has been given to the Great Western Greenway at Westport.
The Clew Bay greenway from Belclare to Murrisk has been granted €200,000 while €10,000 has been allocated to both the Blacksod Bay Greenway and the Charlestown, Swinford, Foxford greenway.
€2.4 million has also been allocated for active travel projects at the N60 Heathlawn – Balla, the N60 Castlebar – Breaffy and the N59 Newport – Derrada road.
Minister Dara Calleary says funding such as this to further develop greenways will help grow tourism in all towns along the routes….
