€12m loan approved for Mayo County Council

Over €12 million of a loan has been approved by Mayo councillors for a number of projects.

The authority wants to borrow €4.15 million over a period of 30 years in energy retro-fit its headquarters at Áras Chontae, Castlebar, Westport Leisure Centre, Ballina Swimming Pool and Castlebar Fire Station in partnership with the SEAI pathfinder programme.

The total of the four projects is €8.2 million, of which €4.131 million is grant-added.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Damien Ryan says energy efficiency is hugely important for these buildings and will have long term benefit.
