Gardaí in Roscommon seized over €33,000 worth of suspected drugs and arrested a man on Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 8:30pm on Wednesday, Garda members attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit were on patrol when they stopped a vehicle on Main Street, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.
During a search of the vehicle, approximately €28,000 cannabis herb, €1,500 cannabis resin, €1,750 ‘magic’ mushrooms, €1,530 Amphetamine, €230 LSD and €260 MDMA were discovered by Gardaí.
€1,400 cash was also seized along with drug paraphernalia. The total value of the drugs seized is €33,270 (subject to analysis).
The driver, a male in his 40s, was arrested at the scene for an offence contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977-2016 and is currently detained at a Garda station in the North Western Region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
The drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
