Driver number needed for insurance renewal

Motorists across County Mayo who are looking to renew their motor insurance, or take out a new policy, must provide a driver number.

That rule will come into effect from the end of this month, and the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland are warning motorists of the change.

It will be an offence for any insurance provider or broker to issue a policy where a drier number has not been supplied from March 31 onwards.

This also applies for named drivers on a policy.
