The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, along with local volunteers, were tasked with refloating two dolphin who had live stranded near Belmullet on Sunday.
Assisted by members of the community, Live Stranding Responders helped to get the mother and calf duo from the Mullet Peninsula, back out to sea safely.
Gemma O’Connor, Live Stranding Network Coordinator of the IWDG, says that the injuries sustained by the dolphins in the incident is the equivalent of injuries one would get in a car crash.
