Many of the new 60 km speed limit signs erected earlier this month along the Castlebar to Turlough Road, known locally as “The Old Turlough Road”, have been vandalised.
Travelling from Castlebar to Turlough the majority of the new speed limit signs appear to have been attacked by black paint, and over the digits 6-0 on the sign, 8-0 has been imposed.
This busy stretch of road leading into the county town road had been an 80km road until the new speed limits were introduced on local roads at the start of this month.
Midwest News has contacted the Garda press office for comment and we are awaiting a response.
