Property owners who allow their buildings to go into dereliction in villages and towns around the county, are “delinquent owners”, according to Castlebar Independent councillor Harry Barrett.
At yesterday’s monthly meeting of Castlebar Municipal District held in Belcarra Community Centre, the councillor again insisted that additional staff need to be hired by the district to focus on fining “delinquent property owners” who he argues, are a scourge on communities, in an effort to address a widespread problem.
