Long delays facing patients presenting at hospital emergency departments right across the region today.
28 patients are on trolleys at University Hospital Galway today, the second most overcrowded in the country.
26 patients are waiting at Sligo University Hospital and 19 at Mayo University Hospital.
Nationally today 354 patients are waiting for a bed, with the highest figure being seen at University Hospital Limerick, where 75 patients are waiting on trolleys.
Figures from the Department show 1,400 fewer units were built than was hoped.
