At yesterday’s monthly meeting of Mayo County Council, elected councillors unanimously supported a report presented by the county planners, recommending the refusal of planning permission for the proposed Tirawley Wind Farm in North Mayo.
The application has been submitted by the developer directly to with An Coimisiún Pleanála.
The Mayo planners cited several reasons why the proposal is at variance with the Mayo County Development Plan.
Fine Gael councillor Jarlath Munnelly thanked the planners who had worked with him over the past year on this issue and said that he was completely against the proposal, as it had the potential to cause huge damage to the community in North Mayo.
