County Mayo is about 20 GPs short of what is required.
That’s according to Castlebar based councillor Harry Barrett who has raised
the issue of the ‘trolley crisis’ at Mayo University Hospital.
He highlighted that yesterday (Monday) there were 20 patients left
‘languishing’ on trolleys, while outside eight ambulances were backed up
and unable to admit patients.
Councillor Barrett says that the main problems have to be dealt with, and is
calling on the five Mayo TDs to raise the issue at national level in Dáil Eireann.
He has been speaking to Midwest Radio’s Rian Bailey about the situation, as
he sees it, at Mayo University Hospital.
