A Mayo Councillor has called for a crackdown on dangerous e-scooter use across the county.
The use of e-scooters on greenways, footpaths and other pedestrianised areas is placing walkers, cyclists and families at unnecessary risk, says Ballinrobe-based Councillor Michael Burke.
It comes as six children were recently placed on life support at Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin as a result of e-scooter related injuries.
Minister of State at the Department of Transport Seán Canney recently said that he wants e-scooters to be subject to regulations similar to cars such as insurance and tax.
