There is a very significant issue with anti-social behaviour in some homes/properties owned by Mayo County Council, and not enough action taken about it. That’s according to the chairman of Mayo County Council’s Strategic Policy Committee on Housing, Councillor Peter Flynn.
Draft legislation has been written up and “bounced back and forward” between the SPC and the Council for two years, according to the Westport representative.
As part of the proposed anti-social behaviour rules, the council would have no obligation to re-house someone who voluntarily makes themselves homeless through inappropriate behaviour.
As well as this, the rules would also apply to this living in HAP and RAS tenancies.
Councillor Flynn has been giving more details on this to Midwest Radio’s Rowan Kelly…
