Claremorris native Luke Gibbons has been shortlisted for the Hi Style Rémy Martin Irish Man of the Year Awards 2025, joining a star-studded list of nominees that includes Oscar nominee Paul Mescal and Olympian and broadcaster Greg O’Shea.
At just 28, Luke has already built a legacy across the academic, climate, and political spheres, achievements which have earned him recognition both at home and internationally.
A current PhD Candidate in Law at Trinity College Dublin and Research Ireland Scholar, Luke’s research focuses on how company directors in Ireland, the UK, and the US are legally obliged to address climate change risks.
Luke’s work earned him a Fulbright Scholarship to Harvard Law School, where he continued his and also represented Ireland at high-level events including the UN General Assembly’s Summit for the Future and is currently representing Irish interests as a Casimir Pulaski Scholar at the European Academy of Diplomacy.
Luke is also a Climate Reality Leader trained by former US Vice President Al Gore and was selected as a President Mary Robinson Climate Leader.
In 2023, Luke served as a Legislative Fellow in the US Congress, where he worked in the office of Congressman Matt Cartwright as part of the Washington Ireland Program.
Beyond his legal and policy work, Luke is also the founder of the Ireland America Young Professionals Network (IAYPN) – a transatlantic initiative providing Irish emigrants with free access to mentorship, accommodation supports, job listings and events. Launched in 2023, IAYPN now boasts over 1,000 members across the US and Ireland.
