Dr Kathleen Lynn: Revolutionary Doctor
This talk will consider the life and career of Dr Kathleen Lynn (1874-1955), a key figure in
Ireland’s history in the early twentieth century, both in terms of her active support for the
nationalist cause and role in the 1916 Rising, as well as her contribution to the establishment
of Ireland’s first infant hospital, St Ultan’s.
This talk will be delivered by Dr Yvonne McDermott lecturer on the History and Geography
degree programme in ATU Mayo. Dr McDermott teaches history, archaeology and
folklore. She completed her PhD in the University of Galway.
