Roscommon County Council will gain a councillor on Monday, as Senator Gareth Scahill’s vacated seat will be filled.
Castleplunkett native Ruth Connolly-Conboy will be ratified as the new Fine Gael councillor for the Roscommon Municipal District at the plenary council meeting.
She was recently selected at a Fine Gael convention to replace Senator Scahill, who was appointed to Seanad Éireann in February.
Ms. Connolly-Conboy joins party colleague Valerie Duffy as recently co-opted females to the council chamber. Cllr Duffy replaced the late councillor John Naughten.
