Castlebar Tidy Towns hosts awards ceremony

Castlebar Tidy Towns last week held an awards ceremony to recognise the schools, residents’ groups, businesses and volunteers involved in the National Tidy Towns Competition.

The event, at the Castlebar Celtic Clubhouse, was attended by Chairperson Ger Deere, Minister of State and Mayo TD Alan Dillon, Sharon Cameron of Mayo County Council, and Maria Staunton of Castlebar Chamber.

In 2025, Castlebar achieved a 19-point increase, bringing the town to 393 points and securing its seventh consecutive Gold Medal.

Winners at the ceremony included Castlebar Railway Station in the Public Buildings/Places Category, Donna Sheridan for Best Individual Floral display, Kennedy’s Restaurant for Best Business Newcomer, and the Michael Mullahy Volunteer of the Year Award went to John Murray.
