The Castle Bookshop in Castlebar has been chosen by Bookselling Ireland (the Booksellers Association (BA) in Ireland) as one of 20 Bookshop Champions for Independent Bookshop Week 2026, which will take place in Ireland and the UK from Saturday, June 13 to Saturday, June 20.
The Bookshop Champions will represent the independent bookselling sector’s renown innovation, community impact and commitment to reading for pleasure throughout the Independent Bookshop Week 2026 campaign.
Of the 20 Bookshops selected across the UK & Ireland only 3 are based in Ireland, with the others in Waterford & Dublin.
