The demand for parking reflects the popularity of the Lough Lannagh Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool in Castlebar.
The facility is in the ownership of Mayo County Council.
In an effort to address the scarcity of parking places at the facility, a €400,00o car parking extension is now underway.
Castlebar councillor Blackie Gavin has welcomed the development and is confident that the long promised Climbing Wall at the facility will be delivered on soon.
